The "Terrazze dei Cech" cooperative was established in the Costiera dei Cech, an area that includes the municipalities of Mello, Civo, and Traona in Valtellina; we are a small organization officially founded in 2006, which currently has about twenty members. Our vineyards, arranged on terraces located between 200 and 600 meters above sea level and supported by dry stone walls, represent the uniqueness of this area. This is where the name chosen for the cooperative comes from.
Each member is a vintner who owns terraced plots, created through the construction of dry stone walls on the sunny slopes of the lower Valtellina: each of us has our own cellar and contributes only the surplus grapes to the cooperative. We vintners have been cultivating the land with determination for generations, and the terraces, the result of our ancestors' patient work, are a tangible testament to our deep connection to the territory and our commitment to enhancing it.
The "Terrazze dei Cech" cooperative has as its primary purpose the production of high-quality wine, but also the protection and maintenance of the existing terraces. Our goal is to recover uncultivated land, redevelop roads and trails, creating a path that traverses the entire Costiera dei Cech.
These actions aim to enhance the territory and its viticultural vocation, promoting sustainable agriculture that also involves new generations. The "heroic viticulture" of Valtellina, characterized by hard and demanding manual labor, allows us to obtain a product of excellence.
